960R Raise Bore Drill guide column restoration
Another transformation from the HVT team!
A prominent underground mining contractor reached out to HVT to restore the guide columns in a 960R Raise Bore Drill.
This is a hardworking machine – it can drill a 6,300mm diameter hole up to 1,200 meters deep! After all that drilling, the chrome coating on the guide columns was corroded by salt and acid ingress. The severe damage caused the base shaft to become pitted to a depth of 1mm.
Our solution was to specifically select material for the operating environment that would exceed the lifespan of the previous chrome coating without exceeding the cost. This in turn would mean longer operation times between maintenance – meaning more money in our client’s pocket!
