Understanding high-velocity oxygen fuel coating.

Have you been considering high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coating for your parts?

At HVT, we use HVOF Thermal Spray to restore a component to its original condition and protect against further damage.

High Velocity Technologies can provide an array of thermal spray options, notably high-pressure HVOF (HP-HVOF) and thermal ARC applications. HVT has a wide selection of coating materials available, and they are experienced in repairs to a wide variety of OEM specifications (particularly for CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and Terex equipment). Alternatively, HVT’s skilled personnel are experts with material selection, and a solution can be tailored to your unique circumstances or requirements.

What is HVOF coating?

HVOF is a type of thermal spray coating. Like other thermal spray coatings, it’s a process by which a heated metal spray attaches to a surface and ‘coats’ it with a firm protective film. This film can then help to protect against erosion, corrosion and general wear and tear. Using a high-velocity gas stream, a HVOF coating is exceptionally thin and exceptionally durable.

Why choose HVOF above other thermal spray coatings?

HVOF coating has many benefits:

  • More cost-effective for businesses
  • Better general performance
  • Better electrical performance
  • Better thermal performance in high or low temperatures
  • Components are better equipped for handling strong chemicals
  • Equipment is more efficient and has a longer lifespan

HVOF can protect against harshly acidic, alkaline or saline environments. It also protects against heat, impact, corrosion or abrasion damage.

What can you use HVOF coating for?

HVOF coatings are well suited to:

  • Metals
  • Alloys
  • Ceramics
  • Plastics
  • Composites
